Current Information:Age-40 19, Jersey Road, Custom House Dover (St James's) Cemetery H.M. Trawler. “Falmouth III” was engaged in mine sweeping duties in the Dover Straits when, on 19th November 1915 she hit a mine that had been laid in the area, just off the coast near Folkestone, by the German submarine UC-5. H.M. Trawler “Falmouth III” was blown in half by the explosion, and when she sank she settled on top of the Anglia, a hospital ship, which had fallen victim to a mine laid by the same German submarine two days previously. 7 of the crew were killed including Trimmer John Martin. |
